When you create a Polarsteps account, we ask you for some basic information for your profile. The following information is visible to anyone, in order to find and connect with the people your are looking for:
- Profile picture
- First name and last name
- Home city and country
- The number of followers you have and the number of people that you follow
- Mutual connections, if any
- Polarsteps Plus membership, if applicable (and any other badges)
It is not possible to hide this account information from the search results, as this is how people find and follow people on Polarsteps. However, we understand that for privacy reasons, you may not want to share all of this publicly. You are welcome to use a pseudonym or only a first name. Uploading a profile picture is optional and does not have to make you identifiable.
By default, all other information (including your trips, travel stats, and followers) is not shared publicly. You have the option to adjust your default account settings and you can manage the privacy settings of each of your trips individually.
