Everything you need to know about how Polarsteps Plus charges work, how payments are handled, and what to do if something looks wrong.
Why was I charged?
The most common reasons:
- You started a new subscription: Annual or monthly charges show up at the start of a new billing period.
- Your subscription renewed: Monthly plans renew every month, annual plans every year, until you cancel.
To check your current subscription status:
- iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
- Android: Play Store → Subscriptions
If something doesn't match what you'd expect, contact us through this form and we'll look into it.
How am I charged?
Polarsteps Plus is billed by Apple (for iOS subscriptions) or Google (for Android), depending on where you originally signed up for Plus. On your bank statement, the charge may appears as "Apple," "App Store" or "Google" — not "Polarsteps".
What payment methods can I use?
The methods available depend on the store you're subscribing through:

My payment failed — what now?
If a renewal payment fails, you'll get an email from Apple or Google. You'll have a short grace period — usually a few days — during which Plus stays active while your store retries the payment.
To fix it:
- Update your payment method in your Apple ID or Google account
- Make sure your card has enough room and isn't expired
- Once payment goes through, Plus continues without interruption
If the grace period passes and payment still hasn't succeeded, your account returns to the free tier. You won't lose any trip data, and you can resubscribe any time you're ready.
Taxes and VAT
Prices shown in the app include any applicable VAT or sales tax for your country. The exact rate depends on where you live.
Other local taxes for purchases of Apple or Google software subscriptions may apply and are not included by default.
I think there's a mistake on my receipt
If you see a charge you don't recognize or something looks off, please send us a message through this form with:
- The date of the charge
- The amount
- The platform (iOS / Android / web)
- A screenshot if you have one
